On the Market: Lake Tahoe, Nevada

July 1, 2008

LOCATION: On the east shore of Lake Tahoe, nestled in the Zephyr Cove hills, beside its own private, trout-stocked lake, with views of the Sierra Mountains.

BACKGROUND: The Tranquility estate was a five-year-plus project for Tommy Hilfiger cofounder Joel Horowitz and his wife, artist Ann Horowitz. Avid art and antiques collectors, the couple—with the help of architect Jeff Lundahl and multiple artisans and craftspeople—integrated much of their collection into the home and sourced finishes and furnishings from around the globe.

STATS: The 210-acre estate consists of eight buildings, including a guesthouse, art studio, boathouse, gym with basketball court, stable, and main house: a 20,000-square-foot residence with a staircase replicated from the S.S. Titanic, and a library inspired by the New York Public Library. In total, there are nine bedrooms, 14 full bathrooms, and 11 fireplaces.

WHAT SETS IT APART: "The scope, feeling, and spirit of this property just speaks to you," says agent Shari Chase of Chase International. "People’s lifestyles seem very fast and rushed, but within five minutes on this property you have this feeling that there is nowhere else you want to go."

MARKET INQUIRIES: $100 million, with furniture, art, and antiques included. Shari Chase, Chase International, 866.233.7111, www.tranquilitylaketahoe.com
