At Your Service: Under Control

Like in photo and film shoots, lighting can make the difference between lackluster and spectacular—especially when the star attraction is your home. The right lighting can accentuate your interior design, mood and tasks at hand. Lutron kept these elements in mind when creating their lighting control systems.

With more than 40 years experience, starting with the dimmer in 1961—Lutron has since taken their invention to the twenty-first century. This is evident in HomeWorks, Lutron’s flagship residential lighting control system. Its processor-based structure—which operates wirelessly or through low-voltage wires—allows for elaborate customization, so you can program light level preferences for your morning routine, cooking preparation, sharing meals, entertaining and turning-in for the day.

Not forsaking style over function, their in-wall master keypads and portable tabletop keypads are available in over 20 colors and finishes, including a complete line of metal surfaces to match your decor. "We have a broader color palette than most providers," says Andy Wakefield, the director of Lutron’s home systems business unit. "The look and feel of devices is critical and we spend a lot of time in designing fashionable choices."

The HomeWorks control system can accommodate more than a thousand keypads. Thus, it is ideal for large homes and those consisting of multiple buildings. Furthermore, HomeWorks is engineered to communicate with other home systems, such as touch-screen and security. "Lutron invented robust wireless capability almost a decade ago," adds Wakefield. "We have over a million devices in the field, so we know how to make it reliable, and how to make it work."
