Hinckley Talaria T29 R
She is not the fastest speedboat you can buy, but the Hinckley T29 R (short for Talaria 29-foot Runabout) is possibly the most beautiful small yacht on the market. Styled in the tradition of vintage lake speedboats from the 1920s and ’30s, the T29 R is a well-proportioned beauty, a perfect amalgam of traditional visual cues and modern curves. Sleek and low to the water from afar, the boat boasts pleasing details up close: the sweep of her profile, subtle convex glass surfaces, and a little upward kick at the aft end of the side window frame.

For maneuvering in tight spaces, the wooden Nardi wheel is secondary to the JetStick navigation control. (Click image to enlarge.)

Her cockpit has an aeronautic feel with complete instrumentation, navigation electronics, and controls; a Nardi steering wheel in stainless steel and wood, however, clearly displays an automotive influence. Amenities include an icebox to keep the Champagne properly chilled, a small sink, and a freshwater deck shower for the swimmers. Under the skin are a toilet and two snug berths, not quite comfortable enough for cruising but more than adequate for a quick nap amid varnished wood finish and elegant fittings.
