MONTEGRAPPA FOR FERRARI
Collectors are by definition passionate about their cars, and this enthusiasm
often extends to related automobilia. Whether it be baseball caps or humidors,
watches or pens, our desire for anything related to our automotive interests is
often compulsive. In the cold light of day we understand that much of this is at
best only tenuously related to our favored marque, but we are willing to
overlook the fact. There is no need, though, to obfuscate a lack of logical
connection between Montegrappa and Ferrari. The Italian pen maker has an
established relationship with the sports car manufacturer, and its latest pen
has been released under the name Montegrappa for Ferrari. The FB pen was
designed specifically to celebrate 50 years of Ferrari’s presence in America–and
is available only on these shores. The collection features a scant 50 numbered
pens, all finished in Blue Mirabeau lacquer and pink gold. The new Scaglietti
612 inspired the pen’s shape, and the writing instrument bears the same prancing
horse as the automobile. A hand-sewn leather presentation case reminiscent of
the Scaglietti 612’s interior sports a pink gold plaque depicting that car’s
12-cylinder engine. (Click image to enlarge)
