Log Book: Mile Markers: 2007 Audi S8
June 1, 2008
For its 25,000-mile service, the Audi S8 visited Beverly Hills Audi, who replaced the front brake pads ($450, including labor) and added a set of Pirelli P-Zero tires ($473 each).
24,440—"This car combines the best of two worlds," writes associate editor Jessica Taylor after a trip to Palm Springs. "It’s big—we loaded it with five people, two golf bags and three suitcases—but it acts like a sports car."
25,140—"Maintenance makes a big difference," writes assistant editor Paul Meyers. "The fresh Pirellis and brake pads make the S8 feel new again."
26,575—Depleted key fob batteries locked the keys inside. One of our colleagues was stranded until the spare could be driven to him.
27,000—"The steering is spot on," writes Robb Report MotorCycling editor Arthur Coldwells. "Very impressive for a sedan of this size." Coldwell also notes that in its dynamic suspension setting, "the ride is firm, but not too harsh, and eliminates a lot of body roll."
27,700—"The Bang & Olufsen sound is world-class," logs assistant editor Bailey Bernard. "With a subwoofer that booms without cracking and tweeters that lift from the dash, the entire system is equivalent to a high-end home stereo unit."
