Logbook: Mile Markers: 2007 Cadillac XLR-V
December 1, 2007
After extensive work on the retractable hardtop and mechanical trunk, the Cadillac XLR-V has shown no other sign of electrical hitches or glitches. A drive from Los Angeles to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah and another to Phoenix, Ariz., helped accumulate miles.
12,120 — "It was a 750-mile drive from Los Angeles to Utah and the XM radio (which comes standard on all XLR models) was the most appreciated feature," notes Assistant Editor Paul Meyers. "Sitting is a bit uncomfortable after 10 hours on the road, but there was still enough room for me (at a height of 6 feet) to fully extend my legs."
13,750 — "The trunk light is far too dim to see anything at night without proper exterior lighting." Maybe GM should provide the trunk space with a flashlight, the way Rolls-Royce stocks their doors with umbrellas.
15,040 — Unlike the trunk space, the center console light is a great feature while traveling at night. It illuminates the stowage space under the armrest, making it easy to locate specific items.
