Log Book: Mile Markers: 2007 Jaguar XKR
June 1, 2008
The Jaguar XKR left our fleet at the end of February. Following are a few parting words before the final evaluation appears in our August issue.
23,200—"While this car is an enjoyable drive, the performance is not what I expect from Jaguar’s ‘R’ range," writes Timothy McGrane, our vice president of events. Still, McGrane admits, it looks good.
23,765—"Very throaty, very tight, and very fun to drive," says associate editor Jessica Taylor. "The gearshift paddles make passing other cars literally a snap of the fingers. This car may not be as luxurious as a few other $100,000 cars, but it is perfect for top-down cruising."
24,700—"I drove up Deer Creek Road to have one last blast through the Malibu hills before Jaguar arrived to reclaim their vehicle," says Meyers. "The car is an adequate performer, but its relatively soft suspension and slushy steering do not inspire confidence when cornering. Its greatest strength is its sensuous design."
